Privacy Policy

Candy Scout may create a pseudonymous account identifier so voting, Scout points, report limits and abuse controls can work without requiring an email address or password.

When you vote or submit a Scout report, we store the neighborhood you selected, the rating or tags you submitted, timestamps and the pseudonymous account identifier associated with the action.

If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send in that message.

If you allow location access, Candy Scout can use your device location to center the map and help you find nearby areas. Precise device coordinates are not attached to Scout-area reports.

You can deny location permission and still browse Knoxville, choose a neighborhood manually and use the core reporting features.

We use information to operate Scout-area scores, show community conditions, maintain Scout points and badges, prevent abuse, correct inaccurate information, provide support and improve reliability.

Candy Scout does not sell personal information, does not use personal information for targeted advertising, and does not track people across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Candy Scout relies on service providers for hosting, authentication, database infrastructure and map delivery. Those providers may process technical information such as IP address, an IP-derived approximate region, device/browser information, request metadata or service diagnostics when needed to deliver, secure and troubleshoot their services.

When you submit a live Scout report, Candy Scout uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help distinguish people from automated abuse. Cloudflare may process technical signals such as IP address, browser or device characteristics and challenge metadata to perform that verification. Candy Scout uses the verification result only to protect report submission and does not use it for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Event listings can link to an organizer's website or social account. Information you provide after following an external link is governed by that third party's privacy practices.

Candy Scout is designed for adults and guardians age 18 and older. It is not directed to children and does not ask users to create child profiles or submit children's names, schools, photos or precise live locations.

If we learn that information about a child was submitted in a way that should not be retained or displayed, we may remove or restrict it and take other appropriate action.

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Candy Scout, maintain seasonal scoring and history, address fraud or safety issues, resolve support requests and meet legal obligations.

You can delete an active pseudonymous Scout account and its associated profile, votes and raw reports through the Delete my Scout data page. If you no longer have access to the device or browser that holds the guest session, that page also provides an external deletion request path.

Limited provider security or audit logs may remain for their normal retention period where reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, security or legal obligations.

You can decline location access, stop using Candy Scout at any time and contact us about information you believe is inaccurate or should be removed. Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional access, correction, deletion or privacy rights.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to reduce unauthorized access, misuse and disclosure. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy as Candy Scout changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material revisions are published.
